Dust Cyclone

The dust cyclone drops dust and product out of an air stream by centrifugal force, with very low maintenance and no filter media.

The dust cyclone spins the dust-laden air entering tangentially at high speed inside a conical body. Particles heavier than air are thrown to the outer wall, fall to the bottom outlet and are discharged through an air lock, while the cleaned air leaves upwards through the central pipe.

Because there are no moving parts and no filter media, maintenance is almost nil. The cyclone is therefore widely used for coarse dust separation and as a pre-separator ahead of a filter.

Plate thickness and cone angle are set according to the particle size to be separated, and reinforcing plate is applied where wear is expected.

Key features

  • No filter media and no moving parts
  • Coarse dust separation by centrifugal force
  • Use as a pre-separator ahead of a filter
  • Reinforcing plate in wear zones
  • Sealed discharge through an air lock

Applications

  • Aspiration and dust collection lines
  • Product separation on pneumatic conveying lines
  • Dust systems in silos and feed plants
