Horizontal Scourer

The horizontal scourer cleans the outer surface of the kernel mechanically. Beaters rotating at high speed inside a perforated cylinder rub the grain against itself and against the screen, stripping off adhering dust, soil, hairs and mould.

The removed bran and dust pass through the perforations into the aspiration line while clean grain leaves at the end of the machine. Beater angles and the discharge gate set the retention time in the cylinder and therefore the intensity of scouring.

Used before or after dampening, the scourer lowers the ash content of the stock going to the roller mills and visibly improves flour colour.
